Battery-powered device bring-up on SC668S
AIOapp Inc. · Hardware Associate, Firmware · Dec 2025 – Jul 2026
Brought up the power subsystem and boot chain of a battery-powered Qualcomm device: charger IC, fuel gauge, thermal sensing, USB Type-C, and the XBL/EDL flashing path.
The problem
A new battery-powered variant of the platform would not charge or report battery state correctly, and early units could not be flashed reliably through Qualcomm's emergency download path.
What was done
- ✓Charger IC and fuel-gauge drivers; battery NTC temperature reported through healthd
- ✓USB Type-C HAL bring-up
- ✓Debugged XBL/EDL (Sahara / Firehose) boot and flash failures with QFIL/QDL, cutting debug time by about 40%
- ✓Integrated the MDM (device-management) client into the system image
- ✓Hardware debugging via UART console and kernel logs
Evidence
Scope (the device itself is not shown; diagrams describe the work)
- Charger, fuel gauge, NTC, Type-C HAL
- Sahara/Firehose flash path
- MDM client in the system image
Power path brought up on the bench: Type-C, charger, fuel gauge, PMIC, thermal1 / 2
Outcome
Charging, battery reporting and flashing working on the new variant; device-management client shipping in the image.
